Time to look ahead to this week’s Big Learning in Primary 3!

In Numeracy we have started to revise addition strategies through Number Talk: part/whole strategies, doubles/near doubles and making adjustments.

We will continue to reinforce the properties of 3D shapes in . be moving on to look at 3D Shape in Maths; using the correct vocabulary – faces, edges and vertices.

In Literacy we will continue to work on our Common Words; we are making good progress with these through daily practice at Target Time. Our focus sound for spelling this week will be the short ‘e’ sound, as in ‘nest’. We will continue to look at adding more description and detail to our writing with the use of interesting adjectives to describe a setting. Primary 3 are working incredibly hard on correct letter formation and joining their handwriting – this could be reinforced at home when practising spelling words.

We will be linking our previous learning on the changing states of water; evaporation and condensation, by looking at The Water Cycle  this week.

Please remember our Open Afternoon next Wednesday 9th October 1.45-2.45pm, we are really looking forward to sharing all of our learning with you!
